Product questions

How do the acoustic wood panels arrive?

The acoustic wood panel range comes in 2 panel sizes:

  1. 2700 x 520mm (2.7m x 0.52m) - this size is suitable for walls between 2100mm - 2700mm, and even up to 2800mm if you have skirting boards. If your wall is shorter than 2.7m, you can simply saw off the top of the acoustic panel with a simple hand saw, circular saw or drop saw.
  2. 600mm x 600mm - this size is designed for creating beautiful feature walls or entire walls with a unique pattern structure e.g. basketweave.

Do the panels come in larger sizes?

Panels are designed to join width-ways and long ways seamlessly for any length or width. It’s super simple to join panels - just place them next to each other and nail or glue into the wall.

How do I install the panels?

You can directly screw, glue or nail panels into wall through the acoustic felt backing. You can use:

  • Screws - with an electric screwdriver
  • Glue / Silicone - you can pick this up from any hardware store

See our full installation guide here

Do you produce custom panel sizes?

Our panels can easily be cut or joined for different sizes.

Custom sizes are only offered for orders in excess of 20 panels (or 10.4 meters of panels) up to a height of 3.5m. Please note that custom orders have a lead time of 2 - 3 months.

Please reach out to support@woodspace.com.au for a custom quote and order timeframe.

Can the panels be used in a bathroom or kitchen?

Panels are fine in these areas if not in direct contact with water. However, as a real timber product, it will be susceptible to warping and mould if left in contact with water.

We recommend choosing our lacquered products e.g. Natural Oak (Lacquered) or DIY lacquer on any of our products - this provides additional water-resistance.

Can the panels be used outside?

Acouwood wall panels are designed for indoor use only, or enclosed outdoor areas not exposed to the elements or sunlight.

Are the acoustic wood wall panels finished?

Apart from Natural Oak (Lacquered), the panels come without a finish such as lacquer or oil. As a fun weekend DIY project, you can finish it with oil, wax, lacquer or varnish.

What do I do if I have plug sockets, windows, or other items to install around?

Acouwood can be adjusted to fit around objects by cutting the slats and felt.

On which surfaces can I install the panels?

Acouwood panels can be mounted on all surfaces, including gyprock, plywood, brick, concrete, and plasterboard.

Do the colours of the pictures look like the panels in real life?

Due to variances with every screen, some small colour variations may exist. Please note with real timber, natural colour variations as well as knots, cracks and splintering can occur - which is nature showcasing it’s real beauty!

How can I hide the edges of the panel?

Panels are designed with edges that look like the rest of the panels when cut. We use end panels that can be glued onto the wall that neatly finish and cover the front and side with the same veneer.

Can I hide wires behind the panels?

Yes, wires can be hidden behind the panels.

Can I apply anything behind the panels to increase sound insulation?

We can supply you with additional layers of foam that come with 3mm or 5mm increments. These foam layers can be glued to the wall and then the Acouwood panels can be glued to the foam.
